Sponsor: Day 3 Academy LLC ("Day 3 Academy"). Contact: support@day3academy.com.
These Program Rules govern merit award eligibility, selection, and administration only.
Access to and use of the Day 3 Academy platform and course materials is governed separately by the Day 3 Academy Terms and Conditions accepted at first login in Learning Management System: https://www.day3academy.com/terms
- Eligibility (USA only)
- Must be 18 or older at the time of application.
- Must be located in the United States.
- Applicants must be currently enrolled at a U.S. college or university (sophomore or above, including graduate students). Applicants should have a genuine interest in HVAC, building systems, or related entry-level career paths.
- Must have an active LinkedIn profile.
- Application window
Application dates: the current open and close dates are posted on the official program page (https://www.day3academy.com/scholars). The posted dates control.
- Number of merit awards
Day 3 Academy expects to award 3 merit awards in the initial cohort and may expand or contract awards based on applicant quality and capacity. Day 3 Academy reserves the right to award fewer or none.
- Selection (not random)
- Recipients are selected by Day 3 Academy (merit-based; not random).
- High-level criteria include: HVAC/building-systems interest, professionalism, coachability, resume fit, and likelihood to complete within the program timeline. This is a merit award application, not a job application.
- Day 3 Academy retains final discretion in selecting recipients.
- Award details and value
- Benefit: full access to a Day 3 HVAC pilot program license and issuance of a digital credential upon completion.
- Stated value for this merit award seat: $1,899 (pilot program license value, consistent with Day 3 Academy pricing literature at https://www.day3academy.com/pricing).
- This merit award is for a one-time, non-cash Day 3 HVAC license only. It is not tuition reimbursement and is not paid to the student's college or university. It does not include travel, equipment, gift cards, cash, or other expenses unless explicitly stated. The merit award is not compensation for services and does not create an employment or contractor relationship.
- Acceptance and onboarding
- Selected students must accept within 7 calendar days of notification.
- Acceptance requires signing the Award Recipient Agreement and scheduling the required Welcome Call.
- Completion requirements and required calls
- Completion window: 6 weeks from the Welcome Call date (or from account activation date, if later).
- Required calls: Welcome Call plus office hours every two weeks during the completion window.
- Internal feedback: exit survey plus a 30-minute debrief call after completion.
- Activity expectations and waitlist pressure
- Seats are limited and there is an active waitlist.
- If a recipient has no meaningful activity for 7 consecutive days, Day 3 Academy will send a warning email.
- If a recipient has no meaningful activity for 7 consecutive days, Day 3 Academy may reassign the seat to the waitlist.
- One pause may be granted for exams or life events, at Day 3 Academy's discretion.
- Optional LinkedIn credential requirement (profile)
- Within 7 days of completion, recipients are asked to optionally add the digital credential to their LinkedIn profile (Licenses & Certifications).
- Credential name and issuer: as displayed digitally at time of issuance (and as shown in LinkedIn Licenses & Certifications).
- Optional LinkedIn share after completion (encouraged)
- Day 3 Academy encourages (but does not require) recipients to publish a short completion post to their LinkedIn feed after earning the credential.
- If a recipient chooses to post about their participation or completion on LinkedIn (or any social platform), the post must clearly disclose the merit award benefit.
- Any post must be factual. Recipients are not required to provide positive sentiment.
Day 3 Academy can provide an optional template. Recipients may personalize it so long as the disclosure remains clear and conspicuous.
- Not sponsored by LinkedIn
This program is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with LinkedIn.
- Feedback-first process (strongly encouraged)
- If a recipient has concerns or a negative experience, Day 3 Academy strongly requests that the recipient complete the internal feedback process (survey + debrief call) and allow Day 3 Academy an opportunity to address the issue before posting commentary publicly.
- This does not prevent any recipient from sharing honest opinions; it is a request to resolve issues directly first.
- Optional student spotlight
- Selected recipients may be invited to participate in an optional Day 3 Academy announcement or spotlight (for example, a welcome post or short interview).
- Day 3 Academy will provide the recipient a draft for approval before publication.
- Taxes
- Tax treatment depends on the recipient's circumstances.
- Day 3 Academy does not provide tax advice.
- The award may constitute taxable income to the recipient at the fair market value of the license ($1,899). Recipient is solely responsible for any federal, state, or local taxes, including any state tax filings that may apply in the recipient's state. Day 3 Academy currently does not expect to request a W-9 or issue a federal Form 1099-MISC for this one-time $1,899 merit award if no additional reportable payments are made to the same recipient during the same calendar year. Day 3 Academy may request tax documentation and issue required tax forms if required by law, if the facts change, or based on CPA guidance.
- Day 3 Academy does not request SSN or tax forms in the application. If tax documentation is later required, Day 3 Academy will request it after selection through a secure process and not by email.
- Privacy and communications
- Application data will be used to administer the program and communicate with applicants and recipients. See our Privacy Policy: https://www.day3academy.com/privacy
- Marketing emails, if any, will use a separate opt-in (not required to apply and does not affect selection) and will include an unsubscribe mechanism.
- Data retention: Day 3 Academy retains applications for up to 24 months to administer the program, evaluate future cohorts, and maintain compliance records; then deletes or de-identifies them unless a longer retention is required by law. You may request deletion at support@day3academy.com.
- Disqualifications and changes
- Day 3 Academy may disqualify applicants who provide false information or who do not meet eligibility requirements.
- Day 3 Academy may update these Terms for clarity or operational needs; material changes will be posted on this page.
